The End Of Iterative Entertainment

While Crypto bankruptcies have tampered the never ending stream of metaverse-y stuff in your feed, AI has arrived and it's working its sh*t out in real time. The past week saw the rise and fall of that never ending Seinfeld episode. As creatives and creators stand by, around the world, to see how AI made "things" might threaten the premium nature of hand made creative across music, content, and more, what happened with Seinfeld sheds light on the technology's potential and pitfalls.

This illuminated an insecurity in the creative community: if AI is able to produce an entertaining lookalike of a popular product, what does that mean for an industry that historically develops by iteration? A Fantasy hit sparks a competitor response, the success of Reality or Adult Animation justifies the investment in more, the rise of a pop star archetype creates consumer reference points for that same "type" to land an audience (and deal) in its wake.

"Nothing, Forever" has now been banned on Twitch after the series generated homophobic and transphobic jokes. In addition to the lack of "human" sensitivity and consideration in its creative, this wacky Seinfeld stream makes the additional point that what will not survive AI is a lack of originality...in music, TV, movies, and pop culture broadly.
